J. Crew, Anthropologie Moving into Downtown Naperville

Two national retail chains have signed leases to move into a planned development in the downtown area, Crain's reports.

Two national clothing chains may soon be moving into downtown Naperville.

J. Crew and Anthropologie, which is owned by Urban Outfitters, Inc., have both leased space in the planned $30 million Main Street Promenade East development, Crain's reports.

Sources told Crain's that J. Crew Group Inc. has leased about 5,500 square feet and Anthropologie 9,000 square feet of space within the four-story, 100,000-square foot development, according to Crain's.

The development would sit at 10 S. Main St., between Benton and Van Buren Avenues, east of the Main Street Promenade building, which is home to businesses such as Hugo's Frog Bar and Sur la Table.

Crain's also reports that women's clothing store Hot Mama will move from its current location at Main Street Promenade and into the new development.

Naperville-based developer BBM Inc. took control of the development last year after a previous project by Naper Main LLC fell into foreclosure in 2010, according to city records.

Naper Main LLC originally began construction in 2007 on a mixed-used development along with a 317-space garage addition to the Van Buren garage, which was completed in 2009, according to city records. The project has been vacant since that time.
