Youth Organization Seeks Entrants for Sweet Treats Baking Competition

NCO Invites You to Participate in This Year's Chocolate Baking Competitions

 

(Naperville)  There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate and chocolate truffles; mix them all together and you may have the winner for this year's 3rd Annual Sweet Treats Baking Competition or the Chocolate Competition at the 8th Annual Chocolate Festival, to be held on January 15, 2011 at the Neuqua Valley Freshman Center, 3220 Cedar Glade Drive, Naperville.

The Sweet Treats Baking Competition will be judged on taste, appearance, and creativity.  For this competition, you can submit cookies, brownies, candies, bars or a cake.  Chocolate is not a requirement for this competition.  All items must be on site between 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. the day of the competition.  There will be no refrigeration available, so please bring items that can be on display at room temperature.  Winners will be announced at 1:00 p.m.

Celebrity judges for these competitions will include: Mayor George Pradel, Fire Chief mark Puknaitis, Sullivan's Executive Chef Terrell Cole, District 203 Superintendent Mark Mitrovich, District 204 Superintendent Kathy Birkett, and Naperville Park District Executive Director Ray McGury. The proceeds from this event support the programs and services of NCO Youth & Family Services.  NCO is a private, not-for-profit human service agency supported, in part, by United Way.  Services include sliding-fee counseling for youth, adults and families, 24-hour crisis intervention for runaways/lockouts, temporary and long-term shelter for boys 13-17 years and transitional housing for males 18-21 years.  Also provided are prevention/social competency programs serving children K-12.  NCO has offered services to youth and families in DuPage and Kane Counties as well as surrounding communities for 40 years.
