Micro-Brewers Offer Froth and Feast Event

Limestone Brewing Company of Plainfield is in the froth of a fight brewing over self-distribution rights for small beer crafters. Two bills set to come to vote in the Illinois State Legislature this month could protect small brewers' rights to sell specialty beers like Limestone Brewing Company’s new Brew Monkey and Flying Pig directly to retailers.

The vote comes at the same time Limestone Brewing Company and Two Brothers Brewing Company of Warrenville are dishing up a six-course froth and feast extravaganza for the Southwest Suburb’s first collaborative beer dinner. LBC also made news this week, taking home four top awards in SuburbaNites Magazine's "Best of the Burbs" awards - Best Brewpub, Best Dance Club, Best Chef, and Best Mixed Drink - for its Limestone Lemonade.

The Brotherhood of Rte. 59 Brewers Dinner, at Limestone Brewing Company Sun. April 3, will pair beers from the area’s two hottest brewpubs with delicacies like roast pork dripping in barbeque sauce made from Limestone’s house-crafted root beer.

“Two Brothers really is like our big brother,” said Alex Smith, general manager of Limestone Brewing Company. “We’re kind of the new kids on the block.”
