Aurelio's Claims Spot in Top 100 Largest Pizza Companies in U.S.
Aurelio's has landed in the top 100 largest pizza companies in the United States, based on sales.
Aurelio's Pizza is moving up the ranks of the country's top 100 largest pizza companies, landing in the group's 49th spot overall, according to PizzaToday.com.
The Homewood-based pizza company jumped 10 spots from last year, tallying $44 million in gross sales in 2013.
Joe Aurelio Jr. opened the first Aurelio's in 1959 at age 26. The Homewood pizza parlor was a small, four-table restaurant on Ridge Road. In the early days, sales were mostly driven by Joe's home-cooked beef sandwiches, but his pizza quickly attracted fans from all over.
Today, the chain has 40 locations, including two in Naperville at 931 W. 75th St. and 1975 Springbrook Square Dr.
