Top Students For March Named At JCA

Katelyn Gannon, Alex Mantis and Rachelle Sartori have been named Joliet Catholic Academy's Students of the Month for March.

Joliet Catholic Academy is pleased to announce its Students of the Month for March: Katelyn Gannon, Kiwanis Club of Joliet; Alex Mantis, Rotary Club of Joliet; and Rachelle Sartori, Joliet Noon Lions Club.

The daughter of Shaun and Kelli, Gannon carries a 3.17 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. She lists Spanish as her favorite subject. She is the president of National Art Honor Society and she is a member of National Honor Society. She also took a mission trip to Africa this past summer.

After playing volleyball and basketball her freshman and sophomore years, Gannon became a cheerleader for her senior year. She is a member of Spanish Club and Student Exchange Club and a student leader and Sunday school teacher for Three Rivers Church.

A Shorewood resident, Gannon plans on attending Taylor University, with her intended major being Elementary Education. She wants to be a kindergarten teacher, saying “I have a passion to serve others.”

The son of George and Sharon, Mantis carries a 4.6 grade-point average on a weighted 5.0 scale. An Illinois State Scholar, he is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta for math.

Besides being the captain of the varsity wrestling team as a senior, Mantis was a defensive back for the Hilltoppers’ football team that advanced to the state championship game for the 17th time in school history, placing second in Class 5A.

A Joliet resident, Mantis plans on attending Northwestern University, majoring in chemistry to be on a pre-med track. After Northwestern, he wants to continue in medical school.

The daughter of Mark and Nancy, Sartori carries a 4.81 grade-point average on a weighted 5.0 scale. She lists biology as her favorite subject. She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta for math. An Illinois State Scholar, she ranks third in her class.

A four-time all-conference runner in cross country and an All-State pick in track and field, Sartori also is a member of Respect Life Club, Student Ambassadors, Book Club and the math team and is active with the Diocesan Youth Council.

A Joliet resident, Sartori plans on attending Ithaca College, College of William & Mary or Bellarmine University. She intends on majoring in exercise science, sports psychology or business, with the hopes of opening a running store or being a sports psychologist for a college team.
