Open Auditions for Singing at the Fling Competition Held in Coming Weeks

Singers of all ages are invited to participate in the Singing at the Fling competition at the Naperville Jaycees Last Fling 2014. 

Open call auditions will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Madden Theatre located downstairs in Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center in Naperville, Ill.

Auditions are open to singers age 7 and up; adults are welcome to audition. No pre-registration is required; singers may come to auditions from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. 

“We are excited to see local talent of all ages come out to shine,” Danielle Tufano, Singing at the Fling Co-Chair and Morning Co-Host of Mackay in the Morning on 95.9 The River, said. “This is one of the few singing competitions that encourages both adults and children to participate.”

Singing at the Fling Finals will be held at the Entertainment Stage at the Last Fling at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31, and the first place winners in each age group will sing on the Main Stage on Monday, Sept. 1 (time TBD). 

Singers may prepare one song of up to three minutes in length (no exceptions), and they must provide their own instrumental accompaniment or audio backing track. A panel of judges will decide on one winner per age category; age categories are to be determined after auditions.

Prizes include a two-song demo-recording package from Kimberly Steele Studio for the adult category and cash prizes from Bernicky Law Firm. Prize and sponsorship opportunities for Singing at the Fling are still available. For more information, email singatfling@gmail.com.
