The community is invited to attend the Naperville Park District Dance Academy’s Spring Recital on Sat., May 12 at Naperville North High School Performing Arts Center, located at 899 N. Mill Street.
The Recital’s theme is Artistry in Motion, reflecting the Dance Academy’s philosophy of dance instruction, which is to teach not only technique but also appreciation of dance as an art.
Recital performances begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue throughout the afternoon. Performances will feature students ages two through adult and will include a variety of dance genres.
The Academy’s Recital Track begins with pre-ballet classes and provides opportunities for interested dancers to progress from beginner to advanced levels. Students age 9 and up also may audition for Élan Dance Company, a pre-professional dance company that emphasizes creativity and artistry in its eclectic performances.
Although most Dance Academy students are under age 18, adults’ interest in dance is growing, and in recent years, more adult classes have been added, including ballet, tap, and jazz.
