Carillon Earth Day Concert

The Bells of the will ring out in celebration of Earth Day with a special recital on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m.   And, so that patrons can take a little of the green home with them after the recital, the Carillon Foundation will give 2- to 3-foot sapling oak trees to the first 300 people who arrive for the recital.

The saplings can be planted in various locations around Naperville to help replace some of the scores of trees being destroyed by the infamous emerald ash borer. The Carillon Foundation is providing the trees in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Earth Day tree program.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is distributing 10,000 oak trees to schools and school children again this April as an Earth Day initiative. The event is in its second year.  The 10,000 trees are donated to the Illinois Department of Transportation by Living Lands & Waters, a not-for-profit environmental organization founded in 1998 by Chad Pregracke and based in East Moline, Illinois.
