DuPage Symphony Orchestra Presents 'The Genius of Prokofiev'

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and Tasso’s Greek Cuisine (Tasso’s) partnered together over the holiday season to raise food and monetary donations for the Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry, serving DuPage County.  The DSO hosted a food drive in the lobby of North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall during two holiday concert performances and Tasso’s offered patrons the opportunity to donate all or a portion of their coupon discount to the food pantry over the course of a month.  We are pleased to announce that in combination, 293 pounds of food and the equivalent of $6,956 of buying power for products to stock the pantry shelves were collected.  We are all grateful for this outpouring of support from the DuPage community.

As part of ongoing efforts to appreciate those who provide services to the community, the DSO is offering a special 25 percent discount to service club members for its upcoming February concerts. “The Genius of Prokofiev”, will be performed twice:  Saturday, February 12 at 8p.m. and Sunday, February 13 at 3 p.m..  This special  discount can be obtained by calling the DSO office at 847-778-1003 and letting them know to which club you belong.  Clubs represented by 25 ticket purchases or more will be given the option to host a table in the lobby of Wentz Hall during the two performances.  So far, NAMI and Lions Club will be represented; the DSO looks forward to many more clubs sharing their missions and deeds with concert-goers.  It is an honor for the DSO to continue drawing attention to companies and organizations supporting DuPage County and to recognize those who, in partnership, create the strongest community possible.

Regularly priced tickets for the February 12 & 13 concerts are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors and $11 for students and can be purchased through the North Central College Box Office at 630.637.SHOW/7469. Tickets can also be ordered online at http://tickets.noctrl.edu by scrolling down to the DSO performances and selecting “The Genius of Prokofiev.” Additional information may be obtained on the website at www.dupagesymphony.org or by calling the office at 630.778.1003.

Loaves & Fishes is grateful to both the DSO and Tasso’s for their assistance over the holiday season and reminds the community that there is always a need for additional resources, including food, money, and volunteers.  While the spirit of giving receives most attention during the holidays, hunger is an unfortunate reality every day of the year.  Additional information regarding Loaves & Fishes, including how to get involved throughout the year, is available at www.loaves-fishes.org or by calling the pantry at 630.355.FOOD/3663.

Additional information about Tasso’s, a restaurant devoted not only to providing an exquisitely tasty twist on modern Greek cuisine, but also to developing their role as a significant contributor to the DuPage community, can be found at http://tassosgreekcuisine.com/, by calling 630.355.8852, or by enjoying a marvelous meal in the restaurant at 220 S. Washington in Naperville.
