'American Idol' Contestants from Naperville, Downers Grove Leave Show

Alex Oechsel, of Naperville, and Mariah Pulice, of Downers Grove, were both selected to go to Hollywood but didn't make it to the show's Top 40.

Two local American Idol contestants have left the show.

Alex Oechsel, of Naperville, and Mariah Pulice, of Downers Grove, were both selected to go to Hollywood last month after American Idol's season 12 auditions in Chicago. 

Oechsel is a junior at Benet Academy and has performed in numerous productions at North Central College as well as Benet Academy. Pulice is a graduate of Downers Grove South High School.

This week, everyone sent to Hollywood battled to be in the American Idol's Top 40. Pulice and Oechsel were both sent home. 

The top 40 will now battle to be in the top 20 in Las Vegas.
