Your Next Three Days

From wine to art to film, this weekend's motto should be: Eat, Drink and be Merry.

What a weekend! The best way to approach it may be to follow the philosophy of "Eat, Drink and be Merry," heavy on the merry, middling on the eat and light on the drink.

Your next three days should be chock full of fun with the number of events taking place in Naperville.

Friday

Let the hayrides begin! Families, clubs and anyone else who likes a hayride, the Naperville Park District is offering its Harvest Moon Hayrides. You do need to register for the rides, which will continue through the end of October.

Ladies, if you love makeovers and martinis and don't mind helping homeless animals, then head on over to BlackFinn for an evening of fun. The event will include food, drinks and feature local retailers and benefits the Naperville Area Humane Society. Tickets are free, but you need to register online.

Is your motto "a bottle of red, a bottle of white?" If so, you need to make a trip over to the Naperville Wine Festival at the Naper Settlement. The festival kicks off on Friday and will put a cork in it for the night, resuming on Saturday. From wine to food and musical performances, the event should be an epicurean delight. Tickets are $25 in advance, $35 at the door. Tickets for designated drivers are $10.

Saturday

Homeowners, you may want to get up early for the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation meeting, being held at 8 a.m. at city hall. The meeting with focus on electric power in Naperville, with a special focus on the city's smart grid initiative.

If movies are your thing, then you have a lot to choose from for the next eight days. The Naperville Independent Film Festival kicks off and will screen 78 films over the next week. Tickets are reasonably priced at $3 each. Films will be screened at three venues, Classic Cinemas Ogden 6, Hollywood Palms and the Holiday Inn Select.

Feeling Blue? LeeAnn Rimes will be sure to lift your spirits. The vocalist brings her show to Pfeiffer Hall for an evening of romance. Face it You Can't Fight the Moonlight.

Sunday

Time for some fun with man and woman's best friend. Take Fido over to the DuPage Forest Preserve where pups will be Ruff'n It. There will be canine demonstrations and just a howling good time. You must have a permit to use the dog park. 

Both the art fair and hayrides are on the agenda today. And, maybe a little rest from the busy weekend.
