Winter Weather Advisory in Effect Until Noon Friday

Heaviest accumulations of snow fell in the northern suburbs.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon today, according to the National Weather Service. Strong winds, slippery roads and poor visibility are all possible while the winter weather advisory is in effect. Drivers should be prepared for snow-covered roads.

The snow is expected to taper off through the morning hours, the Weather Service said. Accumulations of between two-to-four inches were expected early Friday morning, with heavier snow changing to flurries.

Snow totals were heaviest in the northern suburbs and lighter to the south, according to WGN Meteorologist Tom Skilling on his weather blog.
