Whiz Kids: Money Wise

Each week Naperville Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid. ○      Whiz Kids' accomplishment: This particular high school team, who calls themselves “the thundercats,” qualified as one of 16 finalists from around the country for the H&R Block Dollars & Sense National Challenge. The team battled  in a live competition of personal finance skills April 30-May 2 at the 2011 DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Fla.

○      Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): The students demonstrated their financial fitness through a series of online national challenges, using the H&R Block Dollars & Sense personal finance software. They earned their trip to Orlando through mastery of real-life simulations, including budgeting, credit scores, debt management, bill paying and more.

Thanks to a partnership with , each weekly Whiz Kid will receive a certificate good for one free slice of pizza at the restaurant's or locations.
