Whiz Kid: Historical Writer

This week's Whiz Kid is a student at Welch Elementary School.

Each week Naperville Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

○      Whiz Kid's age: Fifth grade

○      Whiz Kid's school:

○      Whiz Kid's accomplishment: Olivia won Scholastic’s grand prize in its Fifth National Dear America Student Writing contest.

○      Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): Contestants were required to write a five-day diary exploring a historical event from the point of view of a real or fictional character. Olivia wrote about the American Revolution. Her entry was chosen from more than 5,000 entries and as a grand prize winner she will receive a tour of historical sites along the East Coast.

 

Thanks to a partnership with , each weekly Whiz Kid will receive a certificate good for one free slice of pizza at the restaurant's or locations.
