Whiz Kid: A Real Scholar

St. Francis High School student Ann Kolker is this week's Whiz Kid.

Each week Naperville Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

  • Whiz Kid: Ann Kolker
  • Whiz Kid’s school: St. Francis High School, Wheaton
  • Whiz Kid’s accomplishment: Ann Kolker was one of two students at St. Francis High School to be named as a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. 
  • Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): To become a semi-finalist the student must score amongst the top 1 percent of the 1.5 million juniors who entered the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2010 PSAT exam. Kolker will continue in the scholarship competition. National Merit Finalists will be announced in February.

Thanks to a partnership with , each weekly Whiz Kid will receive a certificate good for one free slice of pizza at the restaurant's or locations.
