Weekend Grab Bag: Music, the Beach and a Silly Saturday

Friday, Aug. 26

Music on the Riverwalk

The Scoop: This is the last time the weekly concert will be held along the Riverwalk until next summer.

Inside Info: This week’s band is the Fifth Avenue Band, which plays a variety of music. All are welcome and the event is free.

Night on the Rooftop

The Scoop: The members of the Young Professional Network with get together on the roof of the  for a night of dinner and drinks.

Inside Info: Preregistration is preferred. The cost is $35 for Young Professional Network members, $45 for nonmembers. Saturday, Aug. 27

Beach Time

The Scoop: is going to close soon for the season. The beach is open this weekend to swimmers looking to grab a few more days of summer.

Inside Info: Adult float will be from 9 a.m. to 10:55. Open swim starts at 11 a.m. The pool will be open this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Super Saturday at Andersons

The Scoop: The day will be devoted to silliness, fun and stories all for the little tykes.

Inside Info: This month the theme is taken from the Max and Ruby books.

CSC Wine Tasting

The Scoop: Enjoy a variety of wines from WineStyles Bolingbrook and hors d' oeuvres at this second event to benefit the Community Service Council of Northern Will County.

Inside Info: Tickets are $30 for individuals and $50 for a couple.

Sunday, Aug. 28

Wizard of Oz Hike at the Arboretum  

The Scoop: Follow the yellow brick road or a trail through the Arboretum as Dorothy, The Tin Man, The Lion and Scarecrow seek out a brain, heart, courage and a way home to Kansas.

Inside Info: Tickets for individual shows cost $13 to $19 and there are discounts for members.

Shopping to Help Others 

The Scoop: Downtown boutique is donating 20 percent of its sales over the weekend to help a young couple with some mounting medical bills.
