Weekend Grab Bag: Last Fling, Impact Remix and Skaters' Picnic

Time for a long weekend of fun. Here is the lowdown on some of the events happening this weekend.

Labor Day weekend is here. Time to celebrate the end of summer with a fun filled weekend. As everyone knows in Naperville, it’s time to enjoy the last fling with the Last Fling, but there are other activities happening.

How will you spend the three-day weekend? Here are a few ideas.

Friday, Sept. 2

The Scoop: It’s Labor Day Weekend and time once again for music, food (maybe a corn dog or two) and family-friendly fun. Of course this event happens all weekend long!

Inside Info: The event features a and some free performances. Some of the headliners include . Tickets must be purchased for the main stage acts and ticket prices vary. Don’t miss the Disney fun for the young ones.

Saturday, Sept. 3

First Fall Fling 

The Scoop: Time to plan the transition from summer garden to fall foliage.

Inside Info: The folks at the will educate gardeners about preparing for fall and winter. You can plant your own or watch their expert designer.

Skaters’ Picnic

The Scoop: This is the eight year for the picnic, which is open to skaters of all ages and their families.

Inside Info: KidsMatter hosts this event along with the Naperville Police Department, and the Naperville Park District Police. There will be free food, free raffles and free T-shirts for the first 100 skaters!

Country Fait at Kline Creek Farm

The Scoop: Enjoy a county fair as it would have been celebrated in the 1890s.

Inside Info: Wonder at the acrobats, leave itch free after watching the flea circus and ponder the oddities and artifacts in the Tent of Wonders.

Sunday, Sept. 4

Impact Remix 

The Scoop: Roughly 7,000 people from Community Christian Church will gather Sunday morning at Rotary Hill for services.

Inside Info: All are welcome. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the service begins at 10 a.m. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair. is a non-denominational Christian church.

Centennial Beach

The Scoop: Summer is ending, sorry to say. Now is your chance to get in a few last swims at . The Beach’s last day is Monday, so if you haven’t dipped your toes in the water, better do it today!

Inside Info: Enjoy some swimming at the beach and then head over the Paddleboats for a spin. The boats will be open all weekend from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
