Weather, Road Conditions in Naperville Monday Morning

The city of Naperville provided the following information on weather and road conditions as of 6 a.m. Monday morning: 

Current Conditions: 
Current temperature is -14°F. Winds are gusting to 25 MPH from the West. Wind chill is -40°F. Snow stopped falling around 7 p.m. last night. Total snow accumulations exceeded 8 inches. 

Operations Currently Underway: 
Twenty district drivers are finishing clearing streets. Most arterials, collectors, and residential streets have been plowed curb-to-curb. A hard snow-pack developed on all roads during this event. Crews have been working around the clock to get rid of the snow. Minimal salt has been applied because the effectiveness is limited at these extreme temperatures. Cul-de-sacs are almost complete. Most courts were done a second time to clean them up and take care of drifting. Drifting snow continues to be a concern on all roads. Roads will remain snow covered until the temperatures rise.

Many roads are snow covered. Drifting snow is possible. Roads will remain snow covered until the temperatures rise. Winter driving precautions need to be exercised on all roadways. 

Other Comments: 
Life threatening wind chills are anticipated late Sunday into Tuesday with wind chills of -35°F to -45°F. 

Potential Duration: 
Clean-up efforts shall continue until the completion of this snow event.
