Weather Could Interfere With Area Events Wednesday

80 percent chance of rain; graduation ceremonies, park district open house face cancellation, postponements.

Weather may play havoc with events Wednesday.

School officials at have warned students and families that graduation ceremonies for and high schools, scheduled for Wednesday evening may be postponed until Thursday, if the weather is inclement.

The district said that it will make an announcement no later than 3 p.m. on Wednesday if it is forced to postpone graduation services. The district hopes it will be able to hold the events outside.

The National Weather Service is predicting an 80 percent chance of storms Wednesday. It is also calling for rain Thursday.

Storms are expected overnight Tuesday with strong winds upward of 50 mph, possible hail and cloud-to-ground lightning, according to the weather service.

The also was planning an open house at on Wednesday to unveil the renovated site but the plans are up in the air and the park district will decide by 3 p.m. Wednesday whether it will hold the event.
