Turkey Trot Registration is Open

The Naperville Noon Lions Turkey Trot consistently draws thousands of runners. This year the race is capped at 7,500.

We have yet to celebrate Halloween, so Thanksgiving may not be on the radar yet. But, it’s never to early to start planning and if you want a great way to burn a few calories on Thanksgiving morning before you sit down to feast, the 14th annual Naperville Turkey Trot 5K is a great option.

Registration for the race is open and the cutoff is 7,500 runners this year. So, don’t delay if you want to race. Last year, those who arrived the morning of the race were out of luck because the race sold out.

in the event the last three years and it’s a fun family event. Whether you are a hard-core runner seeking a personal record or a family with tots in tow, the race is a fun way to start the day. Some runners dress in turkey attire. Others are racing for speed and wear T-shirts and running shorts no matter the temperatures.

The Naperville Noon Lions organize the race and rely on many volunteers who help on race day. The money raised benefits people with sight and hearing disorders, diabetes, and needy families in the Naperville area, according to its website.

Those who register for the race prior to Nov. 16 will pay a $30 entry fee and receive a long-sleeve technical T-shirt, which is new this year.
