Several Suburban Towns Make Top 50 Safest Cities List

Do you think Naperville should have made this list?

While Naperville did not make a top 50 list compiled by Safewise.com, which ranked the safest communities in Illinois, several other suburban towns did.

Safewise.com used the recent FBI Crime Report along with its own independent research to compile its list. To make the list, a city had to have a population of over 5,000 as of 2012, according to a Safewise.com report.

"We analyze the number of violent crimes (aggravated assault, forcible rape, murder, robbery) and property crimes (arson, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft) and then calculate the chance of these crimes happening out of 1,000 in order to level the playing field for the different populations of each city," according to the SafeWise Report.
Here is a look at the top ten safest cities, according to the Safewise.com report:
  1. Round Lake Park
  2. Lake Forest
  3. Western Springs
  4. Campton Hills
  5. Inverness
  6. Gilberts
  7. Chester
  8. Pickneyville
  9. Winfield
  10. Waterloo

Gerald North Chicago had a higher crime rate than Naperville and has a very small population! Gerard I know what happens in Naperville and I'm very safe and comfortable here!

And North Chicago makes the list and Naperville doesn't! What a joke! http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-North-Chicago-Illinois.html

Your argument is with the author/company that made the report. They must know more then you do about crime in all these towns including Naperville. You may feel safe in Naperville but a lot of people don't armed robberies, home break-in, assaults, murders etc. not withstanding.
