Portion of Jefferson Avenue to Close Friday for Statue Unveiling

The bronze statue, which stands at nearly 10 feet tall and took several years to complete, honors Naperville's founder Capt. Joseph Naper.

It's nearly 10 feet tall, 1,500 pounds and has been under wraps for two weeks - but what exactly is it?

If you've traveled down Jefferson Avenue during the past two weeks, you may have asked yourself that question.

On Friday, the wait will be over when the public gathers to see the unveiling of a statue honoring Naperville's founder, Capt. Joseph Naper at Naper Homestead. A special ceremony is scheduled at 4 p.m. Friday for the big reveal.
