It's nearly 10 feet tall, 1,500 pounds and has been under wraps for two weeks - but what exactly is it?
If you've traveled down Jefferson Avenue during the past two weeks, you may have asked yourself that question.
On Friday, the wait will be over when the public gathers to see the unveiling of a statue honoring Naperville's founder, Capt. Joseph Naper at Naper Homestead. A special ceremony is scheduled at 4 p.m. Friday for the big reveal.
Drivers beware because from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Jefferson Avenue between Mill Street and Eagle Street will be closed.
Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel, City Council members, Naperville Settlement President and CEO Mike Krol as well as statue artists Dick Locher and Jeff Adams will be in attendance.
WHEN: Friday, August 23 at 4 p.m.
WHERE: Naper Homestead, southeast corner of Jefferson Avenue and Mill Street. Parking for the dedication will be available throughout downtown Naperville.
