Among the 2,200 runners and walkers who took to the streets of Naperville this past weekend for the St. Paddy's Day 5K was Pat Byrne, who is blind, and his seeing eye dog, Jenny (pictured above), according to Deb Newman of the Naperville Sunrise Rotary.

Pat contacted the Sunrise Rotary to see if anyone would accompany him during the race. Sunrise rotarian Dawn Ruth walked with him so he could participate in the 3rd annual event, according to an e-mail from Deb Newman.

The St. Paddy’s Day 5k is sponsored by Sunrise Rotary. Proceeds from the event support youth and young adult health and development programs in the Naperville area.
