Naperville Makes Snobbiest Cities List

Naperville has made Movoto's top ten list of the snobbiest mid-sized cities in the U.S.

Does the word "snooty" come to mind when you think of Naperville?

If not, you might be surprised to find Naperville recently made its way onto real estate company Movoto's top ten list of the snobbiest mid-sized cities in the U.S.

Movoto ranked Naperville no. 4 on its list behind  Pasadena, Calif. (No. 1); Thousand Oaks, Calif. (No. 2); and Alexandria, Virg. (No. 3).

Movoto used the following factors to determine snootiness:
  • Median home price (the higher the better)
  • Median household income (the higher the better)
  • Percent of population with a college degree (the higher the better)
  • Private schools per capita (the more the better)
  • Performing arts per capita (the more the better)
  • Art galleries per capita (the more the better)
  • Fast food restaurants per capita (the fewer the better)
  • Country clubs per capita (the more the better)
In choosing Naperville, Movoto wrote: "Naperville had the second highest household income, and over 66 percent of locals had a college degree, so these are some world-wise and wealthy people…"

Naperville was the only city in Illinois to make the list.

I totally agree with Naperville being snobby. My ex-husband lives there. He couldn't bear to live with REAL people. He parked me in another snob community Homer Glen for almost 18 years and I hated every minute of it. Now he lives among people like himself who think that they are better than everyone else. Good for him. You couldn't PAY me to live in Naperville!

I have lived in Naperville for about 6 years now & love it. I love how people will say Naperville is snotty but yet they come to shop the stores downtown. We are snobs but yet on the weekends there are so many people from other area's coming into Naperville for the dining or to go to a bar that myself a person who actually lives in the town finds it awful to go into the downtown area for anything.

Where on earth do people not act out their fantasies? Snob is a term where people create their lives based on how they perceive themselves to be. We all are actors on the stage of life.

Here's hoping folks who claim, "WE are snobs" (to folks residing in Naperville) and the idea that living in a clean, small-crime, good schools location is "acting out their fantasies" will soon face life-lessons woven in realty; YIKES!
