Memorial Day: Street Closures, Offices Closing and Garbage Pick-Up Changes

A number of government offices and locations will be closed over the holiday weekend. Street closures will also be in place for the Memorial Day Parade.

Memorial Day closures will be in effect on Monday. Here are a list of some of the closures, changes to hours of operation and changes to garbage collection.

Memorial Day Parade Street Closures

The Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. Monday at .  The parade route begins at Centennial Beach and continues east along Jackson Avenue, north on Washington Street, east on Benton Avenue and south on Court Place. 

Streets along the parade route will be closed at approximately 9:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m. The parade route only will be a no parking, tow zone from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be posted accordingly, according to the city. Garbage/Recycling Collection Changes

There will be no curbside garbage/recycling collection on Monday. If regular collection occurs on Monday residents will have their garbage and recycling picked up one day later. Garbage collection for all other residents will be pushed back one day throughout the week. Information on residential garbage collection can be found on the city’s website.  

The city of Naperville’s municipal center will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

Closures and Operation Changes

  • Administration Building at 320 W. Jackson Ave., will be closed Sat. to Mon., May 26-28.
  • , 305 W. Jackson Ave. will be closed Sun. to Mon., May 27-28
    The Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Memorial Day parade to provide access to restrooms for parade spectators.
  • South Maintenance Facility, 3415 Book Road, will be closed Sat. to Mon., May 26-28
  • Centennial Beach, the Eatery, the Paddleboat Quarry, the and and  golf courses will operate with normal business hours. For more information on these facilities, please call:

Naperville Public Library

All three library locations: , and will be closed on Sunday and Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Normal hours of 9 a. m. to 9 p.m. will resume on Tuesday.

Drive-up returns will continue to be available over the holiday. Materials may be renewed by calling 630.961.0460 or through the Library Catalogwww.naperville-lib.org is open 24/7 for downloads or to renew materials online.

DuPage County Health Department

The DuPage County Health Department’s Public Health Centers in Addison, Lombard, West Chicago, Westmont and Wheaton will be closed Monday. The Health Department’s Crisis Hotline 630-627-1700 in Behavioral Health Services will remain in operation.
