Local Spelling Guru: Whiz Kid

Each week, Naperville Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

○      Whiz Kid's Name: Ujwal Kiran

○      Whiz Kid's Age: 14

○      Whiz Kid's School: Granger Middle School

○      Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Ujwal will be embarking upon an adventure to Washington D.C. this summer to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

○      Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): Although Ujwal was not always successful in spelling bees, she said she refused to give up. Her hard work paid off last week when she was . Ujwal said her key to awesomeness is prioritizing to allow her time to practice before spelling competitions. Through all her past bees, she said she's focused on keeping her chin up and moving forward. It seems that focus has served her well. We're proud to recognize Ujwal as this week's Whiz Kid and we wish her the best in Washington D.C., as well as in all of her spelling related (and non-spelling related) endeavors! Let's give her a group, "Hip hip, hooray!"
