The First Things

We're not the first things in our lives
We're only rarely two or three
To have a life worth anything, there's lots to put in front of "me"

You're never first if you have kids
At least not if you do it well

They're kinda soft about their pets

How everybody dropped debate and to their knees

I never got to meet
I hope someday to get the chance
She put herself behind all of Lemont and
Lemont and I want to say thanks

We're not the first things in our lives
We always number somewhere down
And that's the number that I want in any world I'd hang around
