Hey Kids! Help Us Design Our New Children's Library Card

How cool, students entering grades 3 to 5 can design the new children's library card!

We need your help. The Naperville Public Library wants to have a special library card, just for kids, and we’re asking kids entering grades one through five to help us design it.

“We have a lot of very talented young artists in Naperville,” explains Carla Nolidis, Nichols Library Circulation Supervisor and card contest coordinator. “I know we’re going to get a lot of great designs.”

Entering the contest is easy. Simply come to any of the three library buildings – , 200 W. Jefferson Ave; , 2035 S. Naper Blvd.; and the , 3015 Cedar Glade Dr – or go to our website, www.naperville-lib.info and download an application.

“The new cards will be full color,” Nolidis explains, “so kids can use every color in their crayon box or all their paints, markers and colored pencils.  Of course, the design must be original and not use any copyrighted material. We hope to get very creative, very colorful designs.”

The contest starts on Friday, July 1 and ends Sunday, July 31.  All entries must be hard copies submitted to any Circulation Desk at one of the three Library facilities; no online entries will be accepted. Every child may submit one entry and will receive one coupon for 2 free slices of pizza at Jump!Zone.

In early August, the top 20 designs will be on the Library’s website and the community will have an opportunity to vote for their favorites. Then a panel of judges, including community leaders, will select the final design that will be the new Naperville Public Library Children’s Card.
