Get Out: Music, Wizards, Steamboat Captains

A few ideas of fun things to do this weekend.

While some have been able to enjoy the summer weather the past couple days, there are still many of us who are working for the weekend.

With that in mind, we here at Naperville Patch have put together a little guide of exciting and fun events going on this weekend. From events for children, to those who are history buffs, we have you covered.

Here are our picks for five things to do this weekend in Naperville.

Fun with the kids

With the release date of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 still more than a month away, the kids might need a wizard fix. The is hosting a featuring stories, songs and a puppet show on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the .

Rockin’ downtown Naperville

’s Rollin’ on the River program begins Friday at the Free Speech Pavilion at 7 p.m. The Wacky Keys, a three-piece Hawaiian group feature a lap steel guitar, open the weekly series.

Fun for a good cause

will host a on Saturday at 6 p.m., with the event ending Sunday at 6 a.m. Those interested in participating should contact the American Cancer Society at (630) 932-1141.

Jazzing up your dinner

City Gate Grille is hosting from 8:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. City Gate Grille offers a dinner menu with a fresh take on American regional dishes and health Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant also hosts a wide range of beer, wine and cocktails.

Fun with learning

plays host to a by Brian “Fox” Ellis on Sunday at 4 p.m. Ellis will take on the roll of Steamboat Captain Henry Detweiller. The presentation will weave true stories from pilot logs, Ellis’ own personal experiences and borrow some wit from Mark Twain.
