Delays on BNSF Railway Following Tuesday Night Derailment

Metra riders should expect minor delays Wednesday morning on the BNSF Railway.

A BNSF Railway Metra train that derailed Tuesday night between Aurora and East Eola is causing minor delays this morning.

No one was injured when the train left the tracks about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and a handful of people on the train were transferred to another train, according to the Daily Herald.

As of early Wednesday morning, inbound and outbound trains on the BNSF Railway were operating 10 minutes behind schedule.

"Crews have diligently worked thru the night in adverse weather conditions, to ensure the best possible service for todays morning rush hour," according to an update posted at 5:39 a.m. on the Metra website.

Riders should listen for platform announcements as for the location of their inbound and outbound trains, according to Metra. Check the Metra website for more updates.
