The Turkey Trot is an annual event that the Naperville Noon Lions Club sponsors and it starts and finishes at Naperville Central High School on Thursday, Nov. 28.

The city of Naperville said temporary street closures will begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. and end by approximately 10 a.m. Race route streets are re-opened to traffic as soon as the Naperville Police Department determines it is safe. The race route only will be a no parking, tow zone from 5 to 10 a.m. and will be posted accordingly.

The temporary road closures and no parking, tow zones apply to the following streets:

  • Hillside Road – Webster Street to West Street
  • West Street – Aurora Avenue to Rickert Drive (southbound)
  • Plainfield/Naperville Road – Rickert Drive to Oswego Road
  • Oswego Road – Plainfield/Naperville Road to West Street

To accommodate the large number of race participants, the northbound lanes of West Street will be closed between 8 and 8:30 a.m. This closure is to allow participants at the start of the race to extend across northbound West Street and then safely merge over onto southbound West Street as runners begin to spread out.

Drivers should expect delays through the morning in and around the race route area and take alternate routes or allow extra time to get to their destination. A color-coded map of the street closures is located on the city’s website at www.naperville.il.us/turkeytrot.aspx
