○ Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness (what made him/her successful?): Naperville resident Daniel Shen is the son of Guoyin and Jianfei Shen. He is a sophomore at Naperville Central High School, where he is a member of the cross country team and the Science Olympiad Club. He studies music with Julia Tsien, of Bolingbrook, and performed excerpts of Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the DSO at its Barber and Bernstein concert March 19. The DuPage Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Auditions is an annual challenge open to young musicians who currently attend high school or its equivalent in the collar counties.
