Student Directors invited to submit a project.

 

Self-Esteem for Life Foundation (SELF) is excited to announce a STUDENT DIRECTED PROJECT open to High School and College Students.

This project allows youth to try their hand at directing under the supervision of an experienced director.  Students will build leadership skills and their resumes.  This is also a rare opportunity for actors to learn about the casting process, and explore other careers in the theatre world.

Student directors should submit projects by email to info@selfoundation.org   Projects can include original works (10-minute time limit) or previously published scenes from plays, musicals, TV or film. Deadline is December 20th.   Accepted projects will be announced via email by December 26th.   A submission form is available on the website.

 

Student actor auditions will be held on Sunday, January 12th and Monday, January 13th from 6:00-8:00pm.  Auditions, rehearsals and performances will be held at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles.  Email info@selfoundation.org for an audition appointment. Video auditions accepted-deadline is January 13th at 8:00pm

 

Actors should prepare a 1 minute monologue.  If interested in a musical, please prepare approximately 32 bars of a song.  Bring backing tracks on CD, a photo, and resume if available.

 

Rehearsals are scheduled on Sundays, January 19-February 23, 2014 from 1:00-4:00pm at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.  Performances will be Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 at 7pm, and on Sunday, March 16 at 2:00pm.

Founder Tracy Whiteside specializes in coaching children and teens, and has been training and directing young actors for over 15 years. A photographer, modeling coach, director and performing arts teacher, Tracy has been in the entertainment and fashion business for over 30 years. Now serving as the Education Manager at Fox Valley Repertory, she has directed over 50 youth musicals. 

 

 

Self-Esteem for Life Foundation (SELF) is 501 C 3 non-profit organization dedicated to building self-esteem among young people through the performing arts. Youth ages 4 to 23 have the opportunity to create a musical theatre production, and can audition for singing, acting or dancing roles. Those not interested in performing can work backstage, on sets, costumes, lighting, sound, and more.
