NJWC Donates $10,000 to Naperville Safety Town

Naperville, IL -- Naperville Junior Woman’s Club donated $10,000 to Naperville Safety Town, and presented the official check to Laurah Georgi, President of Safety Town Commission at the Club’s Mardi Gras event on Saturday March 1.  Every year the members of Naperville Junior Woman’s Club (NJWC) dedicate much of their fundraising efforts to benefit Naperville Safety Town so children can learn about safety in the home as well as in the community and understand the importance of making good choices.

The donation is the result of several fundraising efforts including a spring fashion show that NJWC hosted for 400 guests in April 2013, a Ladies Night Out in November 2013, and individual donations from the Club’s members.  “Juniors are proud to run and support any event that benefits our children in the community,” Diana Williams, NJWC President, stated at the event.  “To know that we can make a difference with the kids making a good decision or better choice in their early years really keeps us focused on the WHY.”

Each summer 1,700 children experience a “hands on” approach during the weekly sessions so they learn important safety skills, reinforce those skills and have fun at the same time.  With coordinated efforts of the Naperville Police and Fire Departments, Animal Control, NJWC volunteers and other community groups, the children can understand the importance of safety everywhere they go.  Through the end of 2014, NJWC will continue planning and scheduling fun and unique events that provide live entertainment and a collection of donated items that grab the attention of attendees.
