New Firefighters and a Paramedic Will Compete at Sertoma Centre’s BIG Event and Cook-off on May 3.

Sertoma Centre, Inc. welcomes two new firefighters and a paramedic competing this year in the Firehouse cook-off at the BIG Event on May 3, at 115 Bourbon Street.  

 

Paramedic, Tim Prokop from Edward Ambulance Service in Naperville, IL will be competing in the chicken division.  Firefighter John Bruce of the Crestwood Fire Department will be competing this year in the chili division.  From the Chicago Fire Department, Engine 18, 1st Platoon is firefighter, Michael Wielgat who will introduce us to his entry in the ethic/other division. Lieutenant Tim Moran from Lombard Fire Station #1 will be assisting firefighter Bob Hopper with their entry in the chicken division

Please welcome Sertoma United to the cook-off this year. Sertoma United is the self advocacy group of Sertoma Centre and they will be participating this year in the chili division.  Seven individuals with disabilities and their support staff will be serving samples of chili to the BIG Event attendees.

Please come out and support these awesome firefighters and paramedics at BIG Event. They not only serve the community, they support individuals with disabilities. Firefighters from Crestwood, Lemont, Lombard, Niles, Robbins, Blue Island and two Chicago Firehouses as well as Paramedic from Naperville all plan to fire things up on Saturday, May 3, from 5 – 9 p.m. at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, IL.    Sponsored by local Sertoma Clubs and the Aileen S. Andrew Foundation, attendees can sample the food as guest judges select the best firefighter chefs in the competition.

 

Admission: Adults $10 for entry fee donation/food sample tickets, children 12 & under $5, children under 3, free.  Proceeds from the event benefit the almost 750 individuals with disabilities served by Sertoma Centre, Inc.
