Naperville resident Ron Schubel named Chair of new hospital system board

Ron Schubel, a resident of Naperville, has been named Chair of the 13-member Board of Trustees for the new health system created by the merger of Edward Hospital & Health Services and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare.  Schubel was most recently Chair of the Edward Hospital Board of Trustees on which he had served since 2009.

Schubel retired in 2007 from Lisle-based Molex Incorporated, a $3 billion global manufacturer of electronic components and systems for a variety of industries.  He was with Molex for 27 years where he served as President of numerous divisions, including overseas operations.  Schubel serves on several Boards of Directors, including Littelfuse, Inc., a world leader in circuit protection products, and is a consultant to Oaktree Capital Management.  He received a BS in Industrial Management from the University of Missouri.

The merger, finalized on July 1, creates one of the larger integrated health systems in the state, comprised of three hospitals – Edward, Elmhurst Memorial and Linden Oaks at Edward – with revenues of about $1 billion and more than 50 outpatient locations across a service area of 1.7 million residents.  The system employs nearly 7,700, has more than 1,680 physicians on staff and 1,700 volunteers.
