Naperville Central Tops Dig Pink Fundraiser

Congratulations to the 2013 top five fundraising teams for Side-Out’s Dig Pink® Rally!

  1. Naperville Central High School (Naperville, IL) — $36,400.00
  2. Stanley High School (Stanley, ND) — $12,291.27
  3. The John Cooper School (The Woodlands, TX) — $12,000.96
  4. Downey High School (Downey, CA) — $11,000.00
  5. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart (Miami, FL) — $10,372.00

Although fundraising isn’t the only goal of Side-Out’s Dig Pink® initiatives, it is always amazing to witness what participants are able to accomplish. We are so touched by the generosity of each of our teams, but these five earned special recognition for their accomplishments.

For their 2014 Dig Pink® games, Sports Imports is loaning Stanley High School, The John Cooper School, Downey High School and Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart pink safety pads and net tape. Naperville Central High School will receive its own set of safety pads and net tape to keep!

About The Side-Out FoundationThe Side-Out Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2004 to unite volleyball players and coaches and to have them work toward the common goal of making a significant and identifiable difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families.  The organization's goal is to advance clinical trials, increase patient support services and educate communities.  Side-Out supports teams nationwide in their volleyball tournaments, clinics and other fundraising efforts.   The foundation offers practical support for fundraising as well as educational information to help athletes, coaches and communities become effective advocates for breast cancer. It contributes the funds to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it be in the form of research, medical services or patient support.

The term side-out refers to a situation in volleyball when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play.  It is hoped that Side-Out will do the same for breast cancer patients, providing them with the support, education and best available treatments to regain control of their lives.
