Little Friends Center for Autism Welcomes New Staff

The Little Friends Center for Autism proudly announces the addition of Educational Consultant Donna Brown M.Ed., L.C.P.C., to the staff.  Donna has 20 years of experience in education. Most recently she worked for the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as a Principal Consultant for Special Education Services.  Her 20 years of experience in education include classroom teacher, school counselor, and adjunct faculty member.  She holds Master's degrees in Curriculum Studies, in Human Services and Counseling and in Educational Leadership.   Donna is also the parent of a child with a disability.

 

Donna’s most recent work with the ISBE included auditing schools for Special Education compliance and inclusion practices.  Along with providing support to school districts and parents, she also served as the ISBE representative on the Illinois State Autism Task Force.  Her approach to consulting is to provide services based on the unique needs of each client.  She can provide services to school districts, individual schools and parents/guardians.   Donna’s areas of expertise include training staff and administrators on Individualized Educational Program (IEP) compliance, program and data reviews to maximize access to general education environments for students with disabilities, and providing positive parent/guardian training and support.
