ELMCARE physicians join Illinois Health Partners

The physicians of ELMCARE, the physician hospital organization which includes 430 affiliated and independent physicians on the Medical Staff at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, have agreed to join Illinois Health Partners, effective January 1, 2014.

Illinois Health Partners was created in 2011 as a joint venture between two of Illinois’ top healthcare providers, DuPage Medical Group and Edward Hospital, to improve the quality of healthcare for nearly 100,000 HMO patients in the west and southwest suburbs of Chicago.

With the addition of ELMCARE, Illinois Health Partners now boasts more than 1,300 affiliated physicians, expanding what is already one of the broadest networks of primary and specialty care physicians who see HMO patients in Illinois.  The providers will also work closely to develop clinical initiatives which improve the quality of healthcare, control costs and improve the patient experience throughout the region.

Edward Hospital & Health Services and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare recently merged to become one of the larger integrated health systems in Illinois with three hospitals (Edward, Elmhurst Memorial and Linden Oaks at Edward, a behavioral health facility), revenues of about $1 billion and more than 50 outpatient locations across a service area of 1.7 million residents.

ELMCARE was established in 1995 to offer integrated healthcare services to the western suburbs of Chicago.  Developed as a partnership between the physicians participating in managed care and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, ELMCARE was created to combine the strengths of top-notch physicians with a quality hospital, providing the best medical care available for today’s healthcare consumer.  ELMCARE was awarded 10 of 12 stars in the 2012 Blue Star Medical Group/IPA Report and Blue Ribbon Report, which recognizes HMO contracting medical groups/Independent Practice Associations that have documented high levels of performance in providing patient care.  For more information, visit www.elmcare.org.
