Cletus Needs a Foster Home!!!

Every now and then a dog comes along that just breaks your heart. Cletus is a 2.5 year old black lab mix, he is neutered, up-to-date on shots and best of all he is HW NEGATIVE. And yet this sweet dog has sat at the shelter for almost 1 full year waiting for a rescue to pick him. Cletus is the epitome of Black Dog Syndrome....black dogs are the first to be euthanized at kill shelters... statistics prove that BD's are euthanized at 4 times the rate of dogs of any other color. Therefore, when space is limited the large, black dogs are the first to be euthanized. Why? A recent survey indicates that movies and television portray large, dark colored dogs as Guard Dogs. This leads people to believe they would not make good family pets. In addition, it is hard to photograph a solid black dog so people do not see them as being "as cute" as other dogs. Just like people it is what is on the inside and not outside that matters. And Cletus SHINES on the inside and out. He is a sweet boy that desperately wants to be someones dog. He loves the volunteers but really wants a home of his own. The good news for Cletus is that he is in is a no kill shelter. The bad news is it is one year and no rescue has picked him and it could be another year that he sits and waits. Let's change his fate and give him a second chance............
He can come to Illinois on 9/8 or 9/15 and join the Casey's Safe Haven adoption program, BUT we need a foster home for him while he searches for that perfect family. He is completely vetted and does not need additional treatment. This means he can go up for adoption right away! Please email Kathy at caseysdogs@yahoo.com if your family can give him safe haven, while we find him a home.
