Candlelight Vigil for eating disorders offers memories, motivation, support

More than 300 people attended the 11th annual Candlelight Vigil for those affected by eating disorders, presented by Linden Oaks at Edward and the National Association for Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Eating Disorders (ANAD), on Monday, May 19 in Linden Oaks’ Healing Garden on the campus of Edward Hospital in Naperville.

The Vigil is held each year to motivate and encourage recovery, provide support for families, to commemorate those who have lost their lives and recognize those who have recovered and survived.

Johanna Kandel
, author of “Life Beyond Your Eating Disorder,” was the keynote speaker for the event.  Kandel, Founder/CEO of the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness, struggled with eating disorders for 10 years before getting help.

The Linden Oaks Eating Disorders Program, designated a Center of Excellence by The Joint Commission, offers four levels of care with the latest techniques specifically designed to help adults and adolescents recover from anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders.
