Local Author Introduces New Superhero (A Girl With A Cape) and Book Launch - GotYourCape.com

There's a new children's book that's getting a lot of attention! A Girl With A Cape is hot off the press and the author hopes to use this book to create a wave of change in our communities.

Joliet resident, Amy Logan, just wrote her first children’s book entitled, A Girl With A Cape, and she hopes to use this book to create a wave of change in our communities.  The book introduces a little girl who wears her mom’s leopard-print scarf as a superhero cape in hopes to do something big to make the world a better place.  What this little girl doesn’t realize is that she’s already doing just that.

When we asked Amy what made her write this book, she responded, “There’s so much bullying in the schools lately and all around us for that matter.  I felt there was something more that I could do to make a difference. Being a previous educator, I want to teach kids the positive effect their words can have on people.  Not only kids, but adults also need to realize that what they say matters; that one simple kind word or kind action has the power to change someone’s whole day and that one action can change a lifetime.”

Her hope for this book is to create a C.A.P.E. Campaign with all those who read it.  “The message is simple,” says Amy.  “We pay it forward with kindness.  When we do this and when we give positive encouragement to those around us, we inspire others to do the same.  This Creates A Positive Environment: C.A.P.E.  Think about it.  Kids learn by example.”  Amy goes on to say, “When you encourage a child, you create a child that believes in themselves and encourages others.  At a kid’s level, the book demonstrates the ripple effect that one act of kindness has on the world.  It’s a message that says we all have the power to make a difference; that essentially, we really are superheroes and our super power is the power of our words and actions.  We have the power to build people up to do great things just by what we say and do.  We have the power to change the world, one act of kindness at a time.  And here’s the really cool part: we never know just how far that one little act travels or how many people it affects.”

Critics, educators and parents agree.  Even though the target age group is k-4th grade, this is a great message for kids and adults alike.  The books are ONLY available for purchase at www.GotYourCape.com or during presentations and signings.  Books are $17.95 plus tax and come with that leopard-print scarf, we mean super-hero cape in disguise.  So when you are out and about, and you see someone wearing a “scarf”, take another look.  They just might be a superhero in disguise and in the process of making a difference.

Please visit the site for more information about the book and to contact Amy. Her calendar is filling up fast!  She has scheduled a her first book launch at Café n Play, 1767 W. Ogden Ave, Naperville from 5-7pm on Thursday, May 2nd.  Come meet Amy and the Illustrator, Tracy, and get your signed copy.
