Repairs Begin Thursday at Route 59 Metra Station

The city of Naperville is alerting commuters that some parking spaces will not be available during parking lot maintenance.

Commuters who park at the Route 59 Metra Station should be aware that upcoming maintenance and repairs may temporarily close portions of the parking lot while work is underway.  The city of Naperville is planning to begin maintenance work at the lot Thursday and as a result, barriers may be put in place blocking some of the parking spaces, according to the city of Naperville.  The work is expected to be completed by May 23. Repairs will include curb and sidewalk maintenance, the city said. Repairs will be done after 8 a.m., but barricades will be in place and commuters need to obey the barricade closures even if construction is not taking place. Special Ceremony Honors WWII Pilot's Courage, Service

Naperville resident Jane Wulf, the wife of Elmer B. Wulf, accepted the Distinguished Flying Cross medal on behalf of her late husband.

Judy Biggert's Office On Friday, U.S. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL-13th) presented the Distinguished Flying Cross medal to Naperville resident Jane Wulf in honor of her late husband Elmer B. Wulf, a World War II Air Force pilot.  At a special ceremony held in Biggert’s Willowbrook office, Jane Wulf was joined by several members of her family as well as Elmer’s co-pilot Hugh “Robbie” Robinson.  Wulf and Robinson served in the 381st Bomb Group, 535 Bomb Squadron of the 8th Air Force.   “The Distinguished Flying Cross is a recognition of heroism at its finest,” said Biggert, who worked with the Wulf family to recommend Elmer for the award.  “It’s awarded to those who demonstrate extraordinary courage in aerial …

You are absoutely right Kimberly. I am married to a retired IL state trooper and I pay the state for my insurance. Had a mammogram last March and the bill has still not been paid and the doctors and labs, etc. are sending threatening letters to send the bills to a collection agency, even though I paid our portion. Naperville Bulk Brush Collection Begins Week of May 20

The city of Naperville pushed back the start of its collection to give residents enough time to get brush together.

Giving residents more time to get all those branches, tree trimmings and other brush together, the city of Naperville is starting its curbside bulk brush collection two weeks later than normal.  The collection will begin the week of May 20 and continue through the week of June 10, according to the city of Naperville. (See schedule below) The program is free and allows residents to dispose of a large amount of brush. Residents must place the brush out the Sunday before the collection begins. Interactive Construction Map Alerts Residents on City Projects

City of Naperville makes it easier for residents to avoid potential delays due to road construction with online map system.

Warmer weather has arrived and with it comes road construction, but the city of Naperville has made it easier for residents to avoid it.  A new interactive construction map was recently launched on the city's website, which allows residents to view where and when major projects are occurring. The map also provides updates on construction activity. Users simply type in an address to find out where construction is taking place, or scheduled to take place. Roads being worked on are highlighted on the map and once a project is clicked on information such as work dates, descriptions of the projects, travel delays and more can be accessed.  Only major projects scheduled for the 2012 construction season are included on the map like the Municipal …

City of Naperville Introduces New Police Chief Bob Marshall

Bob Marshall has 27 years of law enforcement experience and is replacing Police Chief David Dial, who retires later this month.

Bob Marshall began preparing for the job of police chief the moment he signed up for his first criminal justice class as a student at Western Illinois University. On Tuesday, the city of Naperville named Marshall, the city’s assistant city manager, as its new police chief. Marshall will be replacing Police Chief David Dial, who is retiring later this month. City Hosting Emerald Ash Borer Open House Monday Night

The city of Naperville has set aside the week of April 27-May 4 as Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week. Tonight the city hosts an open house to help educate residents about the beetle and treatment options for ash trees.

The Emerald Ash Borer is so devastating, the city of Naperville is devoting an entire week to promote awareness and education on the beetle. As part of its education efforts, the city will be hosting an open house Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The open house will provide information on the beetle and the options for treating trees in the fight against the beetle. City to Begin Roadway Resurfacing Program

Roads throughout Naperville are set to be resurfaced in May, including portions of Diehl Road and Book Road.

Submitted by the city of Naperville The City of Naperville will begin resurfacing and reconstructing roads in several subdivisions as well as some of the City’s major roadways as part of the annual Roadway Resurfacing Program. Roads in the following subdivisions are scheduled for resurfacing beginning in May: Breckenridge, Brookdale, Brush Hill, Cress Creek, In-Town East, In-Town West, Knoch Knolls, Old Farm, Old Saw Mill, Rose Hill, White Eagle and Wildflower. In addition to the subdivision streets, several major roadways will also be resurfaced, including Diehl Road from Route 59 to Raymond Drive and Book Road from 87th Street to 111th Street.
