DanceWest Ballet invites youth in the Chicagoland area to participate in its 20th annual production of The Nutcracker, a timeless holiday tradition.  This annual audition is for all children interested in auditioning for The Nutcracker, from any studio or school, whether or not they have participated in the DanceWest Ballet Nutcracker in the past.  Participants will have the opportunity to perform with guest artists from major international and national ballet companies, members of DanceWest Ballet Company, and over 100 children from the area.  The Nutcracker will be performed for the general public as well as for schools from the western suburbs.  These school performances allow many school children to see a ballet at a reduced cost.  For many of these children, it will be their first or only    experience at the ballet.  All school and public performances will be held at Pfeiffer Hall, North Central College, Naperville, IL, and are scheduled for December 13-16, 2012.

Open auditions will be held at The School of DanceWest Ballet in Naperville on Saturday, August 18.  For the 3-5 year-old category, the directors, Regina and Ricardo Moyano, will be looking for listening skills, musicality, and enthusiasm.  Dancers ages six and up will be given a ballet class with barre, center floor, and steps from The Nutcracker choreography.  Girls ages 13 and up should bring their pointe shoes as they will be given pointe combinations as well.  All female dancers should wear a black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers with hair away from face.  Boys should wear a white t-shirt, black dance pants, white socks, and white or black ballet slippers.  Cast members will sign a contract to perform in all performances of The Nutcracker, including both public performances and school performances, and are required to attend all rehearsals.  For information regarding Nutcracker audition schedule and requirements, please visit our website at www.dancewestballet.com or contact us at (630) 778-1303.
