Where is Mug Shot Monday?
You might have noticed something missing on Naperville Patch during the last few weeks.
It's Monday, you're reading Naperville Patch, but something's missing.

Due to a virus attack on the city of Naperville's computer system Oct. 2, city officials, along with the Naperville Police Department, have not had access to their email. And since the Naperville Police Department sends daily booking photos via email, Patch has not been able to provide you with its weekly "Mug Shot Monday" feature.
Last week, Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger told Patch the city had "weeks and weeks" of work left to do in order to safely put its computer system back online.
For now, a temporary website has been set-up with links to city contacts, agendas, events and other general information.
Patch will have "Mug Shot Monday" posted as soon as the city's computer issue is safely resolved.
Check back with Patch for the latest updates on the city's computer system as well as for the latest crime reports.
To email the city during this time, an alternative contact address can be reached at cityofnaperville@gmail.com.

Interesting that the city computer system was exposed to a virus. I wonder if this virus will affect or already has affected their tamper proof smart grid initiative?

I think it's disgusting that you post mug shots, particularly in a town like Naperville. Knock it off!

Unfortunately, crime happens everywhere. We run this feature because it's public information and people have a right to know about what is happening in their neighborhoods. We've received numerous responses from people in other communities where we've run this feature who are pleased that we share the information. It is also important to remember that people are innocent until proven guilty, which is why we include the disclaimer below the photos.
Thank you,
Collin

Hi Rachel,
I don't like the mug shots posts either, but I wonder what exactly you mean by "particularly in a town like Naperville." Do you care to elaborate?

@ maria - let me translate what Rachel B is saying. In Naperville we commit no crimes, so stop proving that this is not true. If the mug shots go away, then I can go back to my la-la land called Naperville and I can pretend crime doesn't happen here. I personally Iook forward to see mug shot mondays - I like to see who and what is going on in the town that I live in. Some are just in denial or disneyland. Keep up the good work Patch!
