A text message, voicemail and email were sent to Steeple Run Elementary school parents alerting them to keep their children inside shortly before 7 a.m. when the police activity occurred. The lockdown at Steeple Run was lifted at 9:45 a.m. once the area was deemed safe, Naperville School District 203 Director of Communications Susan Rice said.
“Never at anytime was there an individual on school premises,” Rice said.
The district was notified by the DuPage County Sheriff's office regarding the home invasion shortly before 7 a.m. Police told the district they were searching for an armed suspect and the school was then placed on lockdown.
"School had not begun, but students were being picked up by the school buses," she said. "The school buses were then diverted to Kennedy Junior High."
The home invasion was reported in the Steeple Run subdivision in unincorporated Naperville after a man told police someone broke into his home. The intruder escaped after the homeowner fired at him, according to ABC 7.
Rice said students were back in school by 9:45 a.m. after police thoroughly searched the school and deemed the area safe.
A DuPage County Sheriff's office spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

I had a Joliet cop fly past at 7:30 on his way up there. Wondered why a Joliet cop was running Naper-Plainfield, 75th, and then Naper Blvd with lights at 7 in the morning. Why did it take 4 hours for an article to appear?

Ya, this morning all the steeple run students were at my school and all us students were wondering what was going on. We also had a lock down for 45 minutes.

Plus the news should get it correct. It's not Naperville , but Lisle Township and that area is unincorporated and most likely one day would be Lisle.

Steeple Run is in the Lisle Park District, Lisle Library District, Lisle-Woodridge Fire District. Steeple Run just came off well water and Lisle acts as the pass-through agent for distributing Lake Michigan water to the county-owned Steeple Run water system. Yet the Village can't seem to address Oakview water...

Sorry Despiser, the addresses in Steeple Run ARE Naperville post office. It is Unincorporated Naperville. Much of the eastern side of Naperville is also in Lisle Township, even though it may be in the city of Naperville. I hope it always remains unincorporated. I do enjoy the lower taxes!!!

Guess i will be exercising my right to bear arms with a nice new Christmas present this year! Let's hop concealed carry finally passes in Illinois (not that it was necessary in this situation), so more of these scumbags think twice before confronting someone!!!

This is the second time this school year that the Steeple Run area has experienced some sort of burglary which necessitated a lockdown of the elementary school. Interesting.....
