Police Arrest 4 People Believed to Be Members of the Felony Lane Gang

An off-duty officer noticed suspicious activity Saturday afternoon, leading police to make four arrests.

busted four people over the weekend as they were in the process of making a fraudulent bank transaction. Officials believe the group is part of the Felony Lane Gang, which has been operating in the Naperville area for some time.

An off-duty Naperville police officer noticed what he thought was suspicious activity Saturday afternoon and watched the individuals, Sgt. Gregg Bell said. The officer called the department to request an on-duty officer check out the activity, which was taking place in the 2600 block of West 75th Street in Springbrook Prairie Pavilion shopping center.

“They were observed to be doing a financial transaction at the bank there,” Bell said, adding police officers recovered evidence related to identity theft.

The female arrested was in the middle of making the bank transaction in the drive-up lane at the bank, while another vehicle was spotted in the Pavilion's parking lot, Bell said. 

 specializes in daytime smash-and-grab vehicle burglaries, police have said. The thieves typically target areas where women might leave purses or wallets unattended inside vehicles, such as fitness clubs, parks, and daycare centers, police said. Once items are stolen, the members of the gang then use the identification and banking information to steal large amounts of money.

Naperville Police believe the gang is responsible for the theft of more than $100,000 from residents through its smash and grab burglaries.

The members of the gang tend to be from Florida and drive vehicles with Florida plates, police have said. 

At 12:57 p.m. Saturday, police arrested four people, including:

  • Nicholas Ferguson, 22, of the 3400 block of Northwest 5th Court, Lauderhill, FL;
  • Melvin Donell Ferrell, 26, of the 1400 block of Southwest 46th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, FL;
  • Darryl Dixon, 25, of the 800 block of Northwest 19th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, FL;
  • and Alisa Blake Freeman, 41, of the 999 W. Prospect Road, Oakland Park, FL.

All four were charged with conspiracy to commit a financial crime. Freeman was also charged with identity theft and being a fugitive from justice.

They were taken to the DuPage County Jail, Bell said. 

The rented vehicles that were being used were towed and later returned to their owner, Bell said.
