A student who attended Neuqua Valley High School died unexpectedly last week, according to an e-mail sent to the school’s families on Tuesday.

Jonathan Betten was a junior at the school and a member of the Class of 2012, Neuqua Valley Principal Bob McBride said in the e-mail. Betten died before the holiday weekend.

The school is assembling its crisis team to determine the best way to provide assistance to students, staff and family members, McBride said in the e-mail.

Betten’s wake will be held July 6 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Beidleman Kunsch Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will take place July 7 at 10:30 am at St. Raphael's Catholic Church.
