CNN Money reported Monday that the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in America has increased more than 13 percent over the past 32 days, to $3.73.

As of Tuesday night, gas prices in Naperville ranged from $3.85 at Sam's Club, 808 S. Route 59, to $4.13 at CITGO, 515 E. Ogden Ave., according to GasBuddy.com.

CNN Money is crediting the price increase to a combination of factors, including rising crude oil prices, production cuts and refinery closings

The Chicago Tribune reported last week that a number of refinery issues in the area have affected gas prices, including an overhaul of BP's Whiting refinery and a fire at a refinery in Ohio.

AAA predicts local refinery issues will continue to push gas prices up in the months to come, according to the Tribune article.

What’s the problem the gang green group of anti-fossil fuel councilmen can propose another increase in Naperville gasoline tax and install a bunch more electric car charging stations for nonexistent electric cars and of course add more bike paths because some day Naperville will outlaw cars.

Our nanny city council knows what is best for us and they with our city manager who always says no problem our budget can absorb all costs for mistakes, oversights and incompetence.

After all, you people should have no say in whether you walk, ride a bike or drive a car. Wonder if another referendum is in order here?

No it was not...I recall it being that low in 2003 when I first started driving at 16.

I'm sure our "representatives" on the city council will reduce the tax rate on gasoline, now that it claims to be running a $6 million surplus.
